Gary enjoys spending hours by the sea observing, photographing and sketching birds. His carvings represent his unique blend of observation and artistic interpretation. Gary creates aesthetic forms, graceful gestures, and original feather patterns.
He designs his own patterns and carves the rough form in basswood with a bandsaw. He then moves to belt sanders and creates the final details with a dremel drill. Fine sanding follows. He creates the feather details using stains or acrylics. Gary uses natural elements for the legs, beaks, and base. The final step is an application of satin polyurethane. Gary carves woodland birds, song birds, doves, and other birds upon request.
